Starring Mallory Bechtel (<b>Hereditary</b>), Amy Carlson (<b><i>Blue Bloods</i></b>) and Meeya Davis (<i>Red Dead Redemption II</i>).  <p> <p><b>With <i><a href="../movies/knowfear(2021).shtml">Know Fear</a></i> being a blend of demonic possession and haunted house story, are these genres you're at all fond of, and some of your genre favourites?</b><p>  <p> Adam: We like a lot of John Carpenter's work and the 70's classics. Favorites include <b> The Dunwich Horror</b>, <b> In The Mouth of Madness</b>, <b>Amityville</b>. <p>   <p> Jamison: Adam got me into the classics. John Carpenter's films were huge, and <b><a href="../movies/conjuring(2013).shtml"> The Conjuring</a></b>.<p> <p><b>(Other) sources of inspiration when writing <i><a href="../movies/knowfear(2021).shtml">Know Fear</a></i>?</b><p>  <p> Adam: H.P. Lovecraft, <b><a href="../movies/hellraiser(1987).shtml">Hellraiser</a></b>, <b> Hocus Pocus</b>. <p>   <p> Jamison: <b> Rear Window</b>, <b> Lord of the Rings</b>, tons of films in the genre.<p> </p> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" width="455" align="left"> <tr> <td width="100%"><img border="0" src="../stills/knowfear-1.jpg" width="450" height="225"></td> </tr> </table> <p><b>As you two have co-written <i><a href="../movies/knowfear(2021).shtml">Know Fear</a></i>, what was the writing process actually like?</b><p> <p> Jamison: Adam and I built an outline and worked hard at it over the course of many months. We came to something we really loved and started writing. We wound up with over 40 drafts but the script is much improved by all of that hard work.<p> <p><b>Do talk about <i><a href="../movies/knowfear(2021).shtml">Know Fear</a></i>'s approach to horror!</b><p>  <p> Adam: We did a lot of research on the horror films that we loved like "less is more."  We wanted people to use imagination, and that is a very big theme in especially Lovecraft. We wanted to stay with that theme - the fear of the unknown. <p>   <p> Jamison: I worked hard as a director in learning the difference between thriller suspense and horror suspense. The difference is character doing simple things like "walking slowly" and little things like that that place you in the mind of the characters. <p> </p> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" width="455" align="right"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <p align="right"><img border="0" src="../stills/knowfear-2.jpg" width="450" height="238"></td> </tr> </table> <p><b>Jamison, what can you tell us about your overall directorial approach to your story at hand?</b><p> <p> Jamison: Again I was mostly focused on suspense and atmosphere. I was able to be a bit more stylized within the scope of the genre in certain elements like lighting (blue moonlight) as that would create the feeling of the films <b><a href="../movies/halloween(1978).shtml"> Halloween</a></b> or <b><a href="../movies/evildead(1982).shtml"> Evil Dead</a></b>. Suspense, suspense, supsense... keep it in shadows, keep it moving and keep it "real."<p> <p><b>Adam, what were the challenges of bringing <i><a href="../movies/knowfear(2021).shtml">Know Fear</a></i> to the screen from a producer's point of view?</b><p> <p> Adam: There were many challenges, one of the biggest ones was the overnight shooting - we had to get it right and we had to do night for night. It was taxing on people's schedule, but I think it was worth it because we have a great project. Other than that I think the biggest challenge that we could have been facing was that of Covid, we literally finished shooting a week before things got really bad. Dealing with scheduling and Covid could have really put a halt on the whole project, but luckily we were able to overcome those challenges.<p> </p> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" width="455" align="left"> <tr> <td width="100%"><img border="0" src="../stills/knowfear-3.jpg" width="450" height="235"></td> </tr> </table> <p><b>Do talk about <i><a href="../movies/knowfear(2021).shtml">Know Fear</a></i>'s cast, and why exactly these people?</b><p> <p> Jamison: Casting director Judy Henderson CSA put a phenomenal cast together of name actors and up-and-coming talent. We were happy to have them onboard.<p> <p><b>You also have to talk about your main location, and what was it like filming there?</b><p> <p> Adam: When Jamison and I were scouting the location, 2 minutes in we already knew this was the perfect house to shoot the film in. It had a vintage vibe that would be similar to that of <b> Amityville</b> and <b><a href="../movies/conjuring(2013).shtml"> The Conjuring</a></b> that we really gravitated towards. Other included comparisons to multi-million dollar hits like <b><a href="../movies/conjuring(2013).shtml"> The Conjuring</a></b> (<i>Reel Reviews</i>) and much more still on the way.<p> <p><b>Any future projects you'd like to share?</b> <p> </p> <p>A horror anthology.
