cast and crew of My Aunt is Coming to Town

Your segment of Theatre of the Deranged II - what is it about, and how did it come into being?

My film was My Aunt is Coming to Town - James [James Cullen Bressack interview - click here] asked me if I would like to be part of the anthology and jumped at the chance. We were in production of my feature Rough Cut and we planned on shooting My Aunt is Coming to Town 2 days after we wrapped on principle photography on Rough Cut. I had a cast of veteran actor Aaron "Quick" Nelson, newcomer Olivia Blake and veteran Shade Burnett as Aunt Flo. It started when me and writer Jeremy Westrate were in the backroom of the grocery store we both worked at trying to figure out something silly and gory we could do and I brought up having a girl dating a guy and when she starts her period she turns in to an evil demon and kills the guy she is dating at the time. Jeremy loved the idea and he went to work. Jeremy banged out a script in 2 weeks and we went to work. We shot over 3 days in Springhill and Ruskin, Florida and had a great time. I believe there are 23 menstrual references in the film and it's fun to try and listen for them. All in all we are pretty happy with the film and would love the chance to work with James again.

So what was your collaboration on Theatre of the Deranged II like - and based on this, will any of you ever be part of another anthology movie?

So far it has been pretty easy, we made our film and James seems to be doing all the work. I am actually in the middle of creating my own anthology DVD called Phobophobia - obviously all the films are based on phobias. We are hoping to have the DVD complete by the end of March 2014 and we will seek distro.

Any future projects/projects besides Theatre of the Deranged II you would like to talk about?

I am currently shopping my feature Rough Cut around. I have a Vietnam veteran film that I am co producing (with Paul Adams) and directing slated for May called Medal of Honor, and I also have a Jack the Ripper-film called The Ritual written by Roger Sampson and starring Jacqui Holland. My goal is 4 features this year, I have 2 others in development and can't let the cat out of the bag on those just yet. Should be an exciting year.
