Your upcoming movie Patriot's Day - in a few words, what is it about?

It's a zombie horror/action film about a group of American badasses that take on an evil regime and their flesh-eating creatures.

From the looks of it, Patriot's Day looks very much like a throwback to 1970's grindhouse cinema - at all a fair assumption, and your (other) sources of inspiration for your movie?

Oh yeah, definitely grindhouse!!! My favorite horror films are mostly zombie flicks. The 1968 and 1978 originals, 'Night of The Living Dead' and Dawn of the Dead were masterpieces! Others I like are Planet Terror, Zombi 2, Return of the Living Dead and Return of the Living Dead 3.

Zombie movies are pretty much a dime a dozen these days - so how will yours stick out of the crowd?

I do my best to stick out from the other zombie films. Can't give away the main plot, but my zombies are a mixture of fast and slow moving creatures. With a special twist as well.

How did the project fall together in the first place?

I have a love for zombie films and wanted to make one to launch on Kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms, in order to raise funding. So I wrote a feature-length script, then condensed it to 3 pages for the teaser.

What can you tell us about the intended look and feel of your movie?

The film will be gritty first and foremost, with the movie locations and scenery as well. To give you a visual, the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic town.

Zombie films suggest quite a bit of blood and guts almost by nature - so how do you plan on going about that aspect of your movie?

Yeap!! A lot of blood, of course. I'll most likely use squib effects (exploding blood cartridges) for realism and try to use little to no CGI effects.

Do talk about your projected cast for a bit, and why exactly these people?

I have a great team of actors for this project. Some are fellow actors I worked with in the past. I auditioned others. The talented and trained actors in the teaser will also star in the feature. They're Chip Carriere, Katrena Porter, Greg Will, Candice Tracy Ross, J'aime Wallace and Brandon Lofton. Once we raise the funding, I'm also starring as one of the main characters. My director of photography Ben Zschunke's camera work was versatile with excellent quality!! The SPFX make-up artist Brittany Stevens and her assistant Kaylah Stevens gave us some very exceptional and grotesque zombies. I'd also like to say that our zombies in the teaser Manon Pages, Joseph Toves and Andrew Downs, who are actors as well, were superb!!

As far as I know, Patriot's Day is currently still in its fundraising stages - so what can you tell us about your fundraiser - and any idea when the film might be out and about yet?
