Frank McConnely (Robert Standley) has made a fortune selling swimming pools, so when he throws a party, everyone who's rich and powerful from the major (Tom Arnold) down comes. He just hasn't picked the best day for the party as eventually the town is covered in a mysterious mist that also cuts of all communication - and who knows what hides in that mist. That said, Frank and his wife Ophelia (Laura Mason) had long built a bunker in their basement that's quite luxurious and well-stocked and offers enough room for all the party guests. So as long as everybody stays put in there, there's a good chance they can sit it out until the thing (literally) blows over. There's just one thing, in the last minute Frank's daughter Grace (Molly Jean Edwards) realizes she has forgotten the family dog upstairs, so she and her uncle (Denny Nolan) go and fetch the animal - but never return. And worried sick about the girl, Frank and Ophelia arm their guests (they've been hoarding firearms in the bunker for years) to create a search party and save Grace should she need saving. Once upstairs though they have to learn what hides in the fog: Carnivourous aliens that have come to earth to feed on us humans ...

Kevn Sorbo plays the president of the USA, but his screentime as well as his influence on the goings-on of the movie are limited.

Now I don't think it's unfair to say this film will not win an Academy Award any tme soon - whick is not at all to say Alien Storm is a bad movie, quite the contrary, it kist wasm't made with an Oscar in mind, instead it's really solid genre entertainment that actually finds a new approach to its monster movie premise, has its story peopled with a colourful cast of characters embodied by an able cast, knows when to set its shocks and when to leave things in the dark, and doesn't take itself 100% serious without never falling into the trap of mocking itself. So in all, a really cool genre ride.
