The Necronomicon seems to be eating up Ash's (Bruce Campbell) sidekick Pablo (Ray
Santiago) from the inside, and that might not only be a bad thing, as
sooner or later a spell to banish demon Baal
(Joel Tobeck) is bound to appear on his skin. So Ash, Pablo, Kelly (Dana
DeLorenzo), Ruby Knowby (Lucy Lawless), Chet (Ted Raimi), plus the local
sheriff's (Stephen Lovatt) wife Linda (Michelle Hurd) and daughter Lacey (Pepi
Sonuga), make it back to Ash's father's house to banish Baal and stop the
curse just in time to save Pablo. At least that's the plan, thing is, an
angry mob has formed outside that wants to lynch Ash, and they not only
are all armed to the teeth, they're also led by Baal in disguise of a
townswoman. And inside the house, Ash's sister Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss),
whom Ash killed 30+ years ago, comes back to life - but she's of course a
deadite hell-bent to kill Ash and company ...
Another episode that plays on the strengths of the series: No situation
can be so tense it can't be the source of a joke or three, blood may flow
freely, but always with a wink, while the violence always has a cartoony
edge to it. And Bruce Campbell's Ash once again proves himself as one of
the genre's most fallible heroes - which doesn't at all deter his
self-confidence though. So in short, good fun.
