Rookie crooks Adam (Michael Kirkwood) and Leroy (Mark Griffin) decide
to hold up a diner - only to find out they have been beaten to this idea
by Tami (Jae Miller) and Dallas (Revel Quinn). However, Tami and Dallas
are soon struck by car troubles out inthe countryside, and Adam and Leroy
are gentlemen enough to give them a lift - and soon enough, romance
blossoms between Adam and Tami and between Dallas and Leroy.
Then Leroy and Adam go to town, just to have a beer at a bar, when
gangster Chico (Edward Blessington) tries to rape a girl right then and
there - and Leroy and Adam help the girl escape, but suddenly find
themselves on the run from Chico and his gang.
Leroy, Adam, Tami and Dallas soon hide out in a barn somewhere in the
middle of nowhere, but eventually Chico and gang catch up with them, and
Chico shoots Leroy in cold blood and rapes Dallas in front of everyone.
Later when he rapes her again and she doesn't show the wanted reaction, he
stabs her to death right through the act - ouch.
A girl with Chico's gang decides to let Adam and Tami escape, but not
before she had lesbian sex with Tami - which Tami really enjoys by the
way. Later the girl also kills Chico.
Meanwhile the police has picked up the trail of Chico and gang, but
when they see Tami and Adam running away, they mistake them for
Chico-gangmembers and shoot them.
Basically this is a cheap sex-and-crime film set in 1920's USA that
somehow tries to cash in on the success of the then recent Bonnie and
Clyde - but the emphasis of Bang Bang Gang is clearly on sex
rather than crime, as sex scenes are squeezed into the narrative at every
possible (and imposssible) opportunity. What's interesting ybout this film
is that it starts out as a light (but not particularly funny) comedy, but
in the end it takes a turn towards the cruel, with the highlight (?) being
the scene in which Chico stabs Dallas while raping her, just to get a
reaction out of her.
That all said, is Bang Bang Gang a good film ?
No it isn't, it's cheaply made (and visibly so), sloppily written with
the focus solely on sex and sensationalist scenes, badly acted, and the
direction is functional at best. That all said, if you are into
early-1970's sexploitation, you might still get a kick out of it.
