College student Cody (Michael Beckhart) seems to have is all, the
looks, the popularity, Britney (Madeleine Garcia), the girlfriend who
loves him, Sean (Triston Pullen), the gay guy who adores him ... and a
stalker, who calls him several times aday from an undisclosed number to
threaten him ... and eventually also his friends. And when the (presumably
female) caller goes so far as to announce an attack on Britney, Cody wants
to dash to her rescue ... to walk right into a trap set up by Adam (Mikel
Ledesma), his totally inconspicuous friend who has, unbeknowest to him,
been in love with him for years and fell apart seeing Cody choose Britney
and even Sean over him - so they had to go. But now with Cody chained up
in some basement, how does he expect this to move forward? Bedevil
is 12 minutes of psychokiller cinema pretty much bared down to its bones,
not wasting much time on set-up or explanations, but moving into the thick
of it in no time - and Mikel Ledesma plays a rather properly scary psycho,
and his cross-dressing is creepy to say the least, helped of course by
decent camerawork and a focus on acting rather than sensationalism. Plus,
despite being firmly rooted in the genre, the story still offers enough
twists and turns to keep one entertained throughout.
