It's not exactly the swankiest of neighbourhoods night nurse Louise
(Lindsey Roberts) has moved to with her family, but at least they have
their own house - even if she has hardly any peace and quiet to sleep
during the day as the alcoholic retired couple next door (John Sneed,
Cecelia Wingate) next door can't stop bickering, and all peace-making
efforts by Louise's son Mitchell (Peyton Pilgrim) are met with dismay,
more often than not expressed with letting their goat shit on Mitchell's
pick-up truck. And the only reason he doesn't retaliate is that his mother
tries to keep peace at all costs. But mum cannot watch Mitchell all of the
time, and when his sister Millie (Lauren Gunn) visits on leave from the
army, she's quick to come up with a devillish plan ...
Beware of Goat is a film that's clever in its
simplicity: Basically it's about little more than a neighbourly dispute
that gets out of hands for the finale's sake, but it's really the things
that are not said or drawn out, that are only hidden in hints and
undercurrents that make the film, give it its depth and make it a rounded
out story. And all of this is achieved through a strong script, clever
directorial choices and a strong cast, all helping to make this a pretty
cool short.
