In 1648, the Crimson Executioner - a madman who tortured and
killed people by the dozen - is tried, sentenced to death and ultimately
sealed inside an iron maiden for all eternety ... but not before he had
time to curse pretty much everyone and everything.
Now: To illustrate Rick's (Walter Brandi) new horror novel, publisher
Parks (Alfredo Rizzo) brings a bunch of female models (Rita Klein, Barbara
Nelli, Moa Tahi, Femi Benussi) plus entourage to the Crimson Executioner's
castle for a photoshoot - which the eccentric new owner of the castle,
Travis (Mickey Hargitay) agrees to only if his guests are gone before next
morning. But as these things go, one of the party accidently breaks teh
seal of the executioner's iron maiden, and before you know it, one of the
models (Barbara Nelli) ends up inside the iron maiden, while the one male
model is killed live during a photo shoot ... and that's only the
beginning, soon everyone gets bumped off by what seems to be the revived
Crimson Executioner or at least placed in some kind of death trap (the
best being Moa Tahi tied up in a giant spider web and having to face an
incredibly phony giant spider).
Ultimately, writer Nick and the publisher's assistant Edith (Luisa
Baratto) - who happens to be the ex-wife of Travis - try to uncover the
secret of the executioner, and discover that it's really Travis in the
executioner's get-up, madly raving about white supremacy and all that
stuff. Of course, in the end, Rick fights and defeats the
executioner/Travis, and he and Edith can leave the place in one piece ...
You might have guessed it, Bloody Pit of Horror is utter trash,
and it has definite deficiencies in storytelling and lacks fleshed-out
characters let alone character development ... That all said, Bloody
Pit of Horror is also a wonderful movie, it's full of over-the-top
ideas and crazy torture devices, the Crimson Executioner's outfit is
simply wonderful, and Mickey Hargitay's extra hammy performance (and he
wasn't too good an actor to begin with) simply out of this world.
In a nutshell, this has to be seen to be believed. Of course you'll
hate it if you take it seriously for as little as one minute, but if you
just lean back and enjoy it as a fun ride, you'll be greatly rewarded.
