Picks up immediately where the first episode Welcome to the Hellmouth left off:

Luke (Brian Thompson) the vampire, is hovering above Buffy, Vampire Slayer (Sarah Michelle Gellar), conveniently lieing in a casket, to suck her dry, & only a cruzifix conveniently hanging on her necklace saves her life, & she even can save her friends Xander (Nicholas Brendon) & Willow (Alyson Hannigan), who have been cornered by a horde of vampires. Whom she can't save though is Jesse (Eric Balfour), who is abducted by the vampires to the Master (Mark Metcalf) in their underground lair. & soon, the vampires decide to use Jesse as bait to get Buffy ...

Meanwhile, above ground level, Buffy, Xander, Willow, & their school's mysterious librarian Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) discuss on how to save Jesse & deal with the vampires - & their proposed harvest on Sunnydale - & soon Buffy figures a way to get into the vampires lair & goes there to save him, even though she knows it might be a trap, with Xander, eager to save his friend, following her.

What they hadn't accounted for is, when they have finally found Jesse & freed him from his chains, he turns out to be a vampire too - & Buffy & Xander can safely escape the lair only with the greatest of efforts.

Back in the safety of their school, Buffy, Xander, Willow & Giles try to figure out where the vampires would do their harveting - & come up with Sunnydale's only nightclub, the Bronze.

But as they want to rush there, & 16-year-old Buffy only wants to stop by her home for some extra stakes & holy water, she gets grounded by her mom (Kristine Sutherland), giving the vampires a comfortable head start in sucking dry teenagers.

In the end though, Buffy & co arrive just in time to prevent a blood bath, & while Xander has to stake Jesse, his former best friend, Buffy manages to take out Luke, which appears to be a fatal blow to the Master ...

On the next day at school, everything seems to go its normal run again, but the Master ... is he dead ?

Of course not.

What goes for the first episode is pretty much applicable here as well (since it is just a continuation anyways): entertaining blend of slasher- & vampire-motives with high-school-soap- & action-elements.
