A quartet of guys (one of them constantly wearing a pig mask) keep two couples tied up in a warehouse, with cameras
attached to their heads, to kill them off one by one and make the snuff
films they are making in the process a real first person experience. The
first couple is offed pretty quickly, but for the other couple, their
tormentors have something special: They give the man the opportunity to
get him and his wife released if he can stand a mere 10 minutes of
torture. The husband wills in, and willingly undergoes rape and beatings,
but when the fingers of his left hand are cut off just like that, he
breaks down and begs his tormentors to stop - understandably even. The
villains now give him an even more cynical chance though: If he comes up
with a perfect way to torment and kill his wife, he is set free. Without
any other hope to survive the ordeal, the man gives in to his tormentors'
crazy demands, but to no avail, after having killed his wife (not in the
way he had suggested), they still want to go after him, but he manages to
get hold of a knife and fight and kill his way out ... Torture
porn at its most basic: Though the film somehow tells a (very feeble)
story, this is used merely as a hanger for violence and gore at its most
extreme. And with its shaky, hand-held (or more precisely head-held in
this example) camerawork it even suggests realism - in a snuff sort of
way. The casual viewer might find this shocking (and with good reason),
the undifferentiating gorehound will love it, but anyone who has seen a
couple of goremovies before and is able to look beneath the surface will
only find this tiring (and I actually dozed off repeatedly during this
film), as there is nothing there beyond sheer gruesomeness, no real
story, no characters to identify with at all - in fact there are no characters
as such in this one, just empty hulls in human form, so why care for any
of them -, annoying wannabe-realistic camerawork and a striking lack of
imagination. A total waste of time and money, and a film that really
puts one off torture porn - not because of its gruesomeness, but because
in its repetitive violent outbursts it's really boring.
