Being bored by her life on the farm, and disappointed by her boyfriend's (Eric Edwards) lack of ambition to do something crazy, young Denise (Marie Forsa) heads for Munich, with some wild ideas to become a model or something.

Soon, she hooks up with bar owner Frank (Harry Reems), who because of her ditches his girlfriend Verena just like that. However, Frank has no intention of remaining faithful, and he soon uses his friend and partner in the bar (Nadia Henkowa) to keep Denise occupied (which includes a brief lesbian scene) while he beds other women, including his ex Verena once again, dancer Winnie and Natascha, the first girl who eventually will manage to ditch him.

Of course, before long Denise finds out that she is little more than a plaything to Frank, and that he will toss her out once the next girl wants to move in ... so first she drunkenly makes a scene at the bar, but to no avail, and finally she gives him back everything he gave her, and moves on, maybe back home ... but maybe not.

On the surface, this might be a typical Joe Sarno film: a story of a young girl and her relation to sex, with all the usual psychological (but a bit cheesy) trappings, set in those wonderful 1970's interieurs, and even the girl is once again Marie Forsa (as in Vampire Ecstasy and Bibi). What makes this film diferent is that SArno pushed the envelope a bit regarding explicitness. It's not hardcore as such yet, but at least in Marie Forsa's sexscenes with both Eric Edwards and Harry Reems, there is no doubt left that they are shagging for real.

Now that is not necessarily a good sign, and Joe Sarno himself never felt too happy with hardcore, as he was interested more in the narration than the actual shagging, but Marie Forsa in ecstasy looks just great - you could swear she's having real orgasms in this one.

In all, Butterflies is one of these typical pieces of 1970's sexploitation you just have to love (or hate), that is equally erotica and a trip into 1970's fashion, furniture and wallpapers ... but it might not be for you if you don't like seeing people shagging (and liking it).
