Steve (Jack Davenport) & Susan (Sarah Alexander) are going out for
almost a year now when Steve finds a wedding invitation in his mail ...
& when he shows it to Susan, he notices the clock is ticking - only he
doesn't want to propose ("It's like death, you know it's coming but
you don't want to talk about dates ...").
So for the celebration of his anniversary in some fancy restaurant, he
has asked his friend Jeff (Richard Coyle) to call at a certain time &
interrupt the situation.
Susan meanwhile, panicking that Steve will not propose, asks his weird
ex Jane (Gina Bellman) for advice, who suggests a tight dress, some
suggestons of lesbian sex & a bit of general dirty talk ... all of
which just fails when Susan proves to be not quite the type for this kind
of thing. But with the help of her feet (you know, a bit of stroking under
the restaurant table) & a carefully placedd telephone call, she still
gets him to as-good-as-propose.
Patrick (Ben Miles) meanwhile sees a woman (Sue Kelvin) whom he has
slept with 10 years ago while he was dating her own daughter, but it seems
at first she can't remember him, then believes him to be her gay cleaning
boy & pretty much humiliates him in front of her friends. Only after
he is really down does she confess to him she only wanted her little
revenge, & Patrick, after all these years, apologizes to her &
also sends apologies to her daughter, only to find out she is the daughter
...
Even if some of this episode is far fetched, it does have its moments -
especially Susan trying to do lesbian dirty talk, & remains quite
funny throughout.
