A woman (Josette Dubois) wakes up in the middle of a forest, completely
unaware where she is or who she might be. She's badly bruised, so
something must have happened to her, and she carries a knife - which she
soon finds out she's really handy with. Out of nowhere, a zombie
(Christina McAlpine) attacks the woman, but she manages to slach the
zombie's throat. When she kills a second attacking zombie (Jesse Fresco)
though, she starts to remember though: These zombies are not just faceless
lumbering idiots, they are people close to her, her best friend, her
brother, and ... the next zombie she has to kill is her husband (Brandon
Bentley) even. Despite all of her best efforts to ward of zombies
though, the woman is suddenly shot in the head by a couple of soldiers ...
and their take on what has just happened shed an entirely different light
on the story ... A very interesting zombie short that for a
change doesn't just go straight to the jugular (though there's plenty of
gore in this one) but tries (and succeeds) to give the zombie some depth -
and thus the movie reinterprets zombie mythology, without ever forgetting
to care about genre-typical elements like tension, suspense and violence
though. Recommended!
