10 years ago, merenary Dace Decklan (Tom Vogel) lost all of his men in
the Civil War of Rambosia ... including Rados (Suzy Markovski), whom he
accidently crippled but left to die in order to save his own hide. Only
Rados didn't die ... Now: Decklan is a down-on-his-luck private eye who
hasn't had a case in weeks, and his mustacchioed secretary/lover Polyanna
(Heath Novkovic) has definitely seen better days - when in comes sexy Lena
(Stevie Hall), who wants to hire Decklan to track town her father in
Rambosia ... and her father is of course, you've guessed it, Rados - who
might not be Decklan's biggest fan. Succumbing to Lena's siren's spell,
Decklan accepts the job, but before he heads to Rambosia, he checks on
Rados' background - to find out he runs an operation to re-invent Viagra
(literally, by breaking it down into its components and re-assembling it).
But by doing this "background check", he attracts all sorts of
riff-raff to the jungle as well, so when he finally manages to track down
Rados, he's not the only enemy he has to face ... but who else does he
have to face? And what has the American Curch got to do with it? And whose
side is Lena really on? And what about Pollyanna? And why is everybody
fixated on boners? (stupid question maybe) Now you might have
guessed it from my synopsis, Dace Decklan: Private Eye is not the
most subtle of films - rather it's a crude spoof of testosterone-driven
action cinema from the 1980's, peppered with dick jokes, (deserved) cheap
shots towards the church, and enough political incorrectness to fill a
blim with (interestingly though, there's no actual nudity in this one). Now
granted, if you show this movie to a room full of cineastes, they'll
probably stone you - but if you give them a bottle of vodka each (and see
that they/force them to drink it), they'll almost certainly have the time
of their lives. In other words: Great party movie!!!
And if this review has gotten you at all interested, you might
just as well go here and check out the film yourself:
