Spending their holidays in a mountain lodge, Michael (Vince
Cusimano) finds this the ideal occasion to kill his wife Veronique (Katt
Balsan) - on impulse more than anything else mind you. But objectively
this is ideal, no nosey neighbours for at least a few hundred yards,
plenty of surrounding forest to bury her in to hopefully never be found,
and plenty of time and quiet to think up a story about her sudden
disappearance. Of course, a little bit of guilt eventually sneaks into
Michael's conscience, but when he goes through Veronique's phone and finds
out she has been plotting with her lover to kill him while in the
mountains he figures this as enough justification to not feel bad anymore.
So when sexy neighbout Terry (Tania Fox) pretty much invites herself to
dinner, being drawn here by the smell of his excellent Italian cooking, he
doesn't say no, and neither does he fight the urge to have sex with her.
There's just one problem - somebody has witnessed Michael killing
Veronique, and this someone is just waiting in the shadows ,,,
Now I'll have to preface here, The Delicate Art of Cooking
Itallian and Killing Your Wife isn't quite as in-your-face funny
as its title might suggest - and that's not at all a bad thing, as the
title concentrates mainly on the main punchline while the film is more of
a character piece that sure has its darkly comedic undertorrents but also
works as a thriller at times, even as a piece of horror at others And a
directorial effort with a feel for atmosphere as well as a relatable small
ensemble also help make this a rather unique genre ride that's well worth
your while.
