Something goes wrong at a porn shoot when male performer Paul (Paul
Scharf) treats his female partner (Vicky Lovelace) much too rough. To
finish the scene, the producer calls in Joey (Joey Silvera), who has the
reputation of being a real nice guy ... and with him, the shoot goes as
smoothly as they go. There is one problem though, Joey's girlfriend
Carol (Linda Wong) - she is just not very comfortable with him doing porn
for rather obvious reasons. She doesn't ditch him over it, she's just not
very happy. But at least he promises to come home right after the shoot
... After the shoot, Joey runs into Paul, and at first they don't seem
to get along at all, but then Paul invites him over to his place to do
some coke, and later the two of them get so drunk in a stripclub they are
thrown out. Drunk as can be, the two of them then walk into a laundromat
to pick up a girl (Candice Ball), who couldn't be less interested ... but
eventually, Paul forces himself onto her and rapes her. Joey tries to talk
him out of it, but when he realizes he can't, he just leaves. Sure, he
could have done more, but in his intoxicated state his judgement is a bit
clouded ... Carol gets a tad upset that Joey has obviously forgotten
about her, so she goes to see a couple of friends (Annette Funnette, Bob
Migliette) for some consolation - and the situation soon develops into a
threesome. Joey has a coffee at a little café to get a clear head when
he meets Leslie (Leslie Dubuex), who picks him up to take home with her.
There, the two of them start to make out when her husband John (John
Leslie) busts in. Joey gets pretty freaked out, but John tells him he
likes his wife to make out with other men, and eventually he encourages
Joey to shag her - while John watches from a secret spot, masturbating. Joey
arrives home when the sun is already up, and Carol is still up as well. To
his surprise however, she doesn't welcome him with accusations of any
sort, and eventually they end up having sex. An interesting
piece of hardcore porn that is not like the usual fare from its time (or
our time for that matter) inasmuch as it actually makes an effort to tell
a story first and to actively include all the sex in the story, rather
than the story being a feeble hanger for sex scenes. Also, in style, Easy
Alice has a certain arthouse or cinema verité vibe to it not found in
the usual product. On top of that, most characters are actually fleshed
out (though don't expect too much depth) and the dialogue avoids the usual
silliness that comes with the genre. All that said, I wouldn't say Easy
Alice is the best porn ever made, but an interesting and ambitious
attempt to break away from the mold on both a narrative and directorial
level, and a film that definitively does not insult your intelligence.
