Cate (Joyce Yoo) has just lost her job and is thus short on rent money -
which her landlord, Windsor (Kelly Kidd) knows only too well, as he has
made her lose her job, as he did with many other of his tenant. Because
you know he, also the mayor of town wants to throw "undesirables" like
Cate out of town to make room for a wealthier kind of citizenry. But Cate
isn't one to give up her home that easily, so she turns to ancient black
arts that involve quite a bit of, well, no spoilers but the hint is in the
title ;) Now this is fun, a short that blends social messages,
satire and outright horror in a homogenous whole, a whole that works like
a good old fashioned short-story with its gradual build.up and surprise
twist. Now add to that a slick directorial effort and a solid cast, and
you've got yourself a pretty cool piece of genre cinema. And if this
has gotten you at all interested, Eat the Rich will
premiere on May 1st, 2026 on
