Doris (Darian Caine) is bored, bored with her daily routine as a housewife, bored with her husband Robert (Zachary Winston Snygg = John Bacchus), and bored with life in general. So she fantasizes about a woman (Tammy Parks) who makes her her sex slave ... only the woman soon turns out to be not a fantasy but a ghost, and she and two devils (Jade Duboir, Victoria Vega) force her to more and more kinky lesbian acts, to which Doris by and by gives in willingly, until she seems to have totally crossed over into her otherworldly visitors' world of eroticism ... and when a door-to-door cosmetics saleswoman knocks on her door, Doris opens in the nude and seduces the saleswoman in no time.

Meanwhile, husband Robert's life is not much more exciting than that of his wife (before she was visited by the ghost that is), his job is dull, he doesn't even exactly know what he's doing, his colleagues are assholes, and the new guy, Bob (John P.Fedele) tries to steal his job - and it seems he succeeds as well. Eventually, Robert gets so fed up with everything that he pulls out a gun and shoots Bob ... upon which his boss (Bennigan Feeney) calls him into his office - to demote him to cleaning personnel.

Robert comes home from work totally worn out, only to find his wife having sex with the cosmetics saleswoman on the kitchen table - and suddenly he feels closer to his dead colleague Bob than anyone else, turning on the TV just like a zombie.

Much more serious than his previous films (which were all essentially parody movies), John Bacchus has turned The Erotic Ghost into a character study in parts reminiscent of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1970 film Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?/Why does Herr R. Run Amok?, but also with satyrical and surreal touches - and of course lesbian sex. But The Erotic Ghost is not so much carried by the sex scenes - though there are plenty of - but by its story and by fine performances especially from Darian Caine (who for once proves she can handle serious roles), Bacchus himself and John P.Fedele (though his death scene is a bit too wacky to sit well witht he rest of the film.

One of Bacchus best films and definitely worth a look.
