Nerdy student Alistair (David Weidoff) moves in with three stoners,
Darnell (John Patrick Jordan), Bachman (Mitch Eakins) and Brett (Brian
Lloyd), whose greatest achievement of late was to buy a large vintage
bong, which they simply can't stop using. Even when Bachman dies after
apparently overdoing it, the other two don't see that as a warning sign
but hide his body to not spoil their planned party with two hot chicks,
slutty Luann (Robin Sydney) and brainy Janet (Kristyn Green) - not a good
idea of course, especially since Bachman did not die from weed (and
really, who does) but was killed by a demon living in the bong that lures
users into some sort of parallel world - basically a strip club where all
the girls have got snappish tits. During the party, the bong claims
Darnell, Brett, Luann and finally even Janet, whom Alistair, himself a
non-user, had the hots for. This is too much for Alistair and he decides
to save her ... but how? Fortunately, at this point of the story, Jimbo
(Tommy Chong), original owner of the bong, shows up, gives Alistair pills
to survive in the bong's parallel world, then advices him to take a puff,
and whoosh, it's off for Alistair to the parallel world, where he finds
Janet, gives her a pill as well, and together they try to find an exit. Jimbo
meanwhile, still in the real world, tries to blow up the bong, but the
bong sucks him in via second-hand smoke ... only Jimbo has brought his
bomb to the other world and now blows up the bong-world - and not only are
Alistair and Janet saved, all their friends are brought back to life. Full
Moon-characters Ginger Dead Man and Jack Deth (Tim
Thomerson) of Trancers-fame
can be found among the bong-world's denizens. Evil Bong is a
film very much reminiscent of the many indie horror comedies
produced/directed by Charles Band himself, David DeCoteau, Fred Olen Ray
and others: You take an utterly outrageous hoirror-ish concept, add lots
of bare boobs, bist of gore and a cast of young cannon fodder enriched by
some seasoned performers (including Tommy Chong in a not really
far-fetched but almost inspired piece of casting), and season the whole
thing with lots of jokes of the hit-or-miss variety. The outcome is of
course no masterpiece (but would you have expected a film called Evil
Bong to be the next Citizen Kane, honestly?), but if nothing
else, it at least gives one the occasional reason to chuckle. There are
definitely worse ways to spend roughly 90 minutes (but quite a few better
ones as well).
