A quintet of chainsmoking astronauts - Blair (Anthony Dexter), Captain Larson (Paul Carpenter), Stanhope (Harry Fowler), Doc Higgins (Sydney Tafler) and Anderson (Rodney Diak) fly to the 13th moon of Jupiter, where there's of course an earthlike atmosphere, earthlike vegetation and - humans, pretty girls to be precise. Soon enough, one of the pretty girls, Hestia (Susan Shaw) has lured Blair and Larson to what seems to be the planet's only city which is normally totally sealed off, because outside there's a monster roaming around.

Once in the city, they meet even more pretty girls and one man who is their leader and master, Prassus (Owen Berry), who claims the city to be New Atlantis and him and his girls descendants of the original Atlanteans down on earth. He also tells Blair and Larson that he needs their help against the monster, and for some reason then he drugs them.

Coming to, Blair learns from Hestia that Prassus is keeping the girls in the city against their will (though they can't go out because of the monster anyways), and that she will help him and Larson escape. Unfortunately though, this conversation is overheard by Duessa (Jacqueline Curtis), who is mighty jealous, and before long she decides to have Hestia sacrificed to the Sun God.

Stanhope, Higgins and Anderson meanwhile come to the conclusion that their pals are in trouble and decide to save them. And since the city is completely surrounded by walls and an electric field, the three of them decide to dig their way in ... and before long are captured by the Atlantean girls, who somehow want to make them part in Hestia's sacrifice - but of course, the tunnle the three of them have dug is soon discovered by the monster who makes its way into Atlantis too and almost immediately kills Prassus, then enters the sacrificial chamber where all the Atlantean girls and the captured men are kept, kills Duessa and then proceeds to kill Hestia - when Blair and Larson enter the room armed to the teeth, and ultimately they force the monster back into the sacrificial flames which totally devour it.

New Atlantis is saved and with both the beast and the dictator gone it will flourish, and while Blair takes Hestia back with himself to earth, the other men all promise to come back, grinning wolfishly (or was that just my imagination ?).

Fire Maidens from Outer Space is trash galore, maybe the ultimate party film (even if there are many similar ultimate party films): Most of the special effects are sub-par, the monster (basically a man in what looks like a cheap Halloween mask) is ridiculous, the mock-Greek sets seem to be oddly out of place - only made worse by the explanation that they are from Atlantis -, the plot is simply put silly, the acting is average at best, and the chainsmoking astronauts make this one nothing short of hilarious - it seems there is no situation grave enough to not have a fag beforehands.

In one word, this one's a must-see !!!
