Young Mia's (KateLynn E. Newberry) life couldn't go better, she runs a flower shop, has a beautiful home and a boyfriend who loves her - and then her ex from high school, Noah (Morgan Middlebrook), shows up in her store one day ... have a really nice conversation. And this is kind of surprising as back in the day he was viciously jealous with fits of violence, so much so that she had to have a restraining order issued on him. But of course, people can change, can't they. Well, Noah obviously couldn't, because later that day he cholorphorms Mia, and when she wakws up, she finds herself chained to the wall in his house in the middle of nowhere. And weirdly enough, he claims he has done all this out of love as he wants their relationship to work and fantasizes about getting married and having children. Now tht said, Mia is not a woman without devices, she makes attempt after attempt to escape or at least get help, but then again, Noah has a gun and isn't afraid to use it, even against her ...

Well, of course on a narrative level Forever Mia isn't breaking any new ground, but this one spins its yarn really well, concentrating for one on its main characters but also on the resourcefulness of its female protagonist, who just refuses to give up the fight despite setback after setback - and she's played rather terrifically by KateLynn E. Newberry, who brings just the right mix of vulneratility and bad-assery to the mix to make this work, and she leads a very competent small ensemble cast. In all a cool genre ride that's definitely worth one's while.
