While Mandy's (Samantha Janus) new boyfriend, rich boy Archie (Crispin
Bonham-Carter) has problems having an erection when in bed with Mandy, Mandy's
flatmate/landlord Matt (Neil Stuke), obviously fascinated by Archie's stories
about his times with the Marines, wants to become a Marine himself, claiming he
owes it to his dead brother Danny, a who has been a Marine - which Mandy &
his other flatmate Marty (Matthew Cottle) meet with ridicule, since they
believe he never had a brother, until he convinces them otherwise ... the
problem for Matt is of course that would mean he had to leave his appartment,
which he can't, being highly agoraphobic.
But being agoraphobic doesn't keep him from redesigning his living-room as a
training-field. Unfortunately though while playing soldier in his living-room,
he discovers the vacuumcleaner, & certain unhealthy possibilities involving
the vacuum-cleaners pipe & his penis ... & soon it won't come off.
Marty tries to help, but doesn't succeed in getting it of, either, so he
calls his ex Clare, a nurse. who really comes, having some bright ideas about
it ... but then Mandy arrives with Archie, & Archie has brought a few of
his army friends to give Matt - penis still in the vacuum's pipe - some advice
about the Marines ... & Matt is desperate to find an excuse to get rid of
them to not be fully embarassed, but the only one who can come up with an
excuse is Clare, claiming Matt's gay - which does the trick, but embarasses Mat
almost as much.
Matt now claims he doesn't want to become a Marine anymore ... but what
about his brother Danny ? Mandy & Marty find out Matt has made up the story
after all, based on a story about Archie's dead brother Danny, who was a Marine
...
& Archie's potence-problems are finally solved when he finds Mandy
struck by a severe cold ... giving him a less perfect image of her, reducing
his fear of failure.
Sad topics again dominate this episode, like impotence, loss of siublings
& (even worse) alleged loss of siblings ... & it's darn funny, too.
