Joe (David Renard) wants to blow the whistle on Alex Colony's (Mort
Mills) insurance scam racket, but is killed by a hooded stranger in black
- and the reporter whom Joe was to sell his information to, Mike (Lloyd
Gough), is almost killed as well, if it wasn't for local superhero Green
Hornet (Van Williams). Incidently, Mike works for Britt Reid's newspaper,
and Reid is of course the Green Hornet's alter ego (and thus also played
by Van Williams) - and when Mike writes an article about Colony's
insurance scam, the newspaper is sued, and since Colony has hired Claudia
Bromley (Diana Hyland) as his lawyer, Reid hasn't got a chance to win the
case - unless he convinces her that Colony's a phony ... Things take an
unexpected turn when Colony starts to believe Claudia has become a
liability and has her kidnapped - but of course the Green Hornet saves
her, and in the process exposes Colony to not only be a scam artist but
also a murderer - and thus, Claudia Bromley is convinced to drop his case. Silly
superhero story that on the one hand oversimplifies things beyond reason,
on the other it takes a few too many improbable twists and turns to remain
believable. But worst of all, its not really fun to watch either.
