The outlaw Sonora Kid (Jack Hoxie) decides to quit his own gang
together with his pals Tony Andrews (Paul Fix) and Black Jack (Harry Todd)
after clashing with his partner in crime Nevada Smith (J.Frank Glendon) a
few times to often and start a honest life on Tony's mother's (Mary Carr)
ranch. However, while pulling one last job to help out a friend, Tony is
shot dead ... Sonora and Jack arrive at mother Andrews' ranch to bring
the sad news, but when the woman, who's blind, mistakes Sonora for Tony,
Sonora decides to play along to not break her heart. Then though Nevada
turns up posing as Sonora, and knowing he's got the real Sonora in a tight
spot, he and his men put up camp at mother Andrews' ranch, posing as ranch
hands - but actually trying to steal the cattle. Sonora and Jack try
everything to keep Nevada and men from stealing the cattle, even tricking
them into robbing the ranch's empty safe instead. In the end though,
Nevada and his men catch up with Sonora, shoot him and leave him to die
while going on with their rustling business, but Sonora survived and tries
to stop Nevada single-handedly nevertheless, but now a marshal (Bob Burns)
is also on his trail, and Sonora might be in a lose-lose situation. Still,
he manages to stop the rustlers and shoot Nevada - and the marshal,
impressed by Sonora's actions, decides to let Sonora go and bring back
Nevada - who has been posing as Sonora anyways - in his stead. Betty
Boyd plays Sonora's love interest. Cheaply but competently made
B-Western, nothing great but ok entertainment.
