Bonnie (Bonnie Law) takes a rope from an old temple to her highschool
dorm, not knowing that centuries ago, Stewart Pik (Raymond Wong) used the
rope to hang himself. Since then his spirit has been living in the rope,
but now that it has been removed, he is allowed to once again walk among
the living - as a ghost of course. After the usual misunderstandings, he becomes
friends with Bonnie and her best pals Juliet (Loletta Lee) and Venus
(Sandy Lamb). Soon enough, Pik starts to enjoy highschool life and helps
them with their problems, from winning at sports competitions to cheating
at exams to teen pregnancy, but often, he creates more chaos than he is of
actual assistance - so much so that eventually, the nun (Teresa Carpio)
heading the school and her helpers manage to track the ghost down to his
rope, which they burn in order to kill him ... which doesn't work though. Ultimately,
Pik has learned to treasure life enough to understand it was wrong to kill
himself, and he decides to leave this world in order to be reborn, but not without leaving the
girls with some good advice. Little more than a highschool-comedy with some
supernatural elements tacked on - which pretty much says it all. So expect
very mild humour, ineffective slapstick, way too many jokes of the invisible man-variety,
a bit of romance, a tiny bit of family friendly horror, and a good portion
of boredom. Add to this the unmistakable style of the 1980's ... and
you're left with very little.
