John (Kim Sønderholm) is a doctor ... well, not a real, official
doctor, he just abducts people, kills them and takes out their organs for
his rich client Zarko (Slavko Labovic). But with the last kidney he tried
to sell (and of a very rare blood group, too), something was wrong, and
now he's got 16 hours to find a replacement, otherwise Zarko will just
take John's kidney, as he's of this rare blood type ... In his
desparation, John takes to a kinky dating website, comes up with a silly
excuse to ask potential matches for their blood type in advance ... and
bingo, he meets Nadja (Siff Andersson), who claims to have a vampire
fetish, and in no time the two meet each other in a bar, and they hit it
off pretty instantly, and after only a couple of drinks Nadja is already
willing to go home with John - perfect! Only once at John's place, things
don't work out as expected ... Harvest is a really fun
little movie, one that doesn't hold back one bit when it goes to showing
blood, gore and dismemberments - in fact, the gore scenes would make
Herschell Gordon Lewis proud -, but that said, the film actually focuses
much more on story than on blood and guts, fetures a fun build-up with
quite a few surprise twists, and apart from the in-your-face dismemberment
scenes (that fit in perfectly though), this whole thing is suitably subtly
directed. In all, the film has the look and feel of an EC
Comics-tale come to life. And add to this great performances by
both Kim Sønderholm and Siff Andersson, and you've got yourself a pretty
cool short.
