JJ (Rob Jaeger) is the head of one of these fraternities noone in his
right mind would consider to join even if his life depended on it. And JJ
is also a complete asshole, so he has thought up an especially cruel prank
for his pledges on Halloween: To tie them up in their sleep and drop them
off at a warehouse where according to urban legend some gruesome murders
have happened some years ago. Of course, the killers from all those years
ago are still active (and they might or mght not be ghosts, but honestly,
who cares), and they brutally slaughter the two pledges JJ has brought
them, on the next day take JJ and his friend Wyatt (Steve Thomlin), who
have come to pick up the pledges, captive. Then JJ's girlfriend (Karen Fox)
and company (Breanne Racano, Micheline Pancoe, Shane Clark) come to the
warehouse looking for him - and are taken prisoners as well, and in the
end they are all brutally slaughtered in one way or another. Yes,
it's yet another slasher with little in terms of artistic aspirations and
virtually no intention to even peek beyond (the very narrow) genre
boundaries. But this is what one has come to expect from slasher movies,
right? What's really annoying about this one though is that it pretty much
sucks in the storytelling department, with a long and fuzzy setup that
throws way too many unnecessary subplots and characters your way and with
a finale that's pretty much suspense-free and uninspired. On top of that,
why is the main character such an asshole? And that's not just my
impression either, he's intentionally portrayed as such and several key
characters call him that. This kind of movie doesn't work though if you
don't care at all for the lead, and actually root for the baddies ...
