Mark (James Murray) is a highly successful racecar driver - until he
has a terrible accident that kills his mechanic (Mike Donlin). From then
on, he gets the jitters everytime he gets into a racecar, and simply
cannot drive anymore ... so he makes a living as a cabdriver, also to be
able to send his dead mechanic's son Jimmy (Jackie Searl) to a military
school. For Jimmy, Mark is still a hero, and still the best driver in the
world, so Mark simply can't tell the truth ... but Keyhole Winston
(Theodore von Eltz), radioreporter and colleague of Mark's girl (Joan
Marsh) can, and he doesn't only tell Jimmy but the entire nation via
radio. This makes Jimmy escape from military school, simply because his
conscience wouldn't let him take money from impoverished Mark. Somehow
however, Jimmy gets into a fight between Mark and two other cabdrivers and
gets seriously injured. And to save the boy's life, Mark overcomes his
racing anxiety and personally drives the ambulance to the hospital in
record time. And wouldn't you know it, in the end, not only the boy's
life is saved, Mark also makes it back to the top in the racing world. A
very cheesy flick that is at least partially saved by massive vintage
racecar action at the beginning and a great sequence of an ambulance
racing through busy streets at the end of the film.
