Let's take filmmakers from all over the world and let them make home
movie style horror flicks - this seems to be (and most probably was) the
premise of this film ... and the result is actually rather fascinating, as
it has become an anthology that differs wildly in style and approach and
tells stories from all over the horror spectrum, from Jason Impey's story
about a very normal kid (with actual home movie clips of Impey himself as
a wee lad) who eventually erupts and becomes a brutal killer, via Maude
Michaud's miniature of Donna Hamblin sacrificing her own personal stalker
(Luc Bernier), to Diana Azura videoing herself in her haunted hallway, to
two girls of internet fame (Suzy Weatherall, Marina Akarepi) attempting to
do an interview with an actual vampire (Adam Jones), with foreseeable
results ... So basically, the film is a bit of everything -
which is a good thing, too, as if you don't like one episode you can be
sure that the next will go right to the jugular again, if one episode's
too serious, the next one's almost certain to be tongue in cheek, plus
there's restraint next to jump scares, atmosphere next to all-out gore,
and so on. Now one might argue that the film as a whole is a bit of a
hodgepodge - but if so, it's a rather exquisite one, one that holds gems
for fans of pretty much any variety of horror.
