Jenny (Jaquelyn Fabian) watches an old monster movie (Roger Corman's
whacky Creature of the
Haunted Sea to be precise) when she's interrupted by a phonecall
from a suppressed number. It's a stranger (Nick Principe) who promises to
kill her - but she's in the middle of watching the movie so she cannot be
bothered and just tells her mystery caller to "text me like a normal
person". So he does, but somehow he fails to turn of AutoCorrect, so
all the threats he sends her come across as a garbled mess and Jenny has
the best time reading them and coming up with poignant responses. What she
doesn't know is, her mystery caller is really standing outside her door,
is watching her, is intending to kill her - but loses his nerves over his
phone until ... Right, AutoCorrect jokes these days are a dime
a dozen, and while many of them are really funny, they are not all that
original anymore due to their omnipresence - and yet The Horrors of
AutoCorrect is highly inventive in its use of just that, the
"horrors of AutoCorrect", and it's hilarious, too. Credit goes
also to the actors though, who play it straight, and the directorial
effort that manages to give the thing the right horror atmosphere to
really work beyond being just silly. It's not long, but it's 6 minutes
well-spent!
