To test whether they're ready to survive conditions on the moon,
astronauts Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) and Roger Healey (Bill Daily) are
abandoned somewhere in the desert for a survival walk. Unfortunately
though, Tony's genie Jeannie (Barbara Eden) has snuck aboard his luggage
hiding in his canteen, and she doesn't understand the usefulness of a
survival exercise when Tony has a genie at his disposal. Tony subsequently
is so adamant to keep Jeannie out of Roger's sight that he ... breaks his
ankle and sees himself unfit to go on, thus he sends Roger ahead to look
for help - and then Jeannie comes to look after him, offering all the best
food and a camel to ride on ... and in the end, Tony comes back so
well-nourished and well-looked after it seems to be a medical wonder. But
NASA physician Dr Bellows (Hayden Rorke) insists he remains on board the
program because for him, Tony has achieved everything through
self-hypnosis ... Cute (and in a good way) - there really isn't
much more to say about this: It's a typical I Dream of Jeannie-episodes
(and one of the better ones) with all members of the small cast at the top
of their game and the usual great chemistry between Barbara Eden and Larry
Hagman. Now seriously: What could go wrong? Granted, things did go wrong
in later episodes, but here the concept is still fresh, plus Jeannie still
has this mischievious streak that seems to go missing later on in the
series being replaced by pute naivité. As mentioned before: Cute.
