For their promotion to major, astronauts Tony (Larry Hagman) and Roger
(Bill Daily) are to spend a few days in Reno - and Tony forbids his genie
Jeannie (Barbara Eden) to come ... but Roger snatches her and brings her
anyways to "help" Tony at the gambling tables. Now Tony is
opposed to gambling, even more so if he had any magic help, so Roger has
to keep Jeannie a secret and has to hand Tony his money to bet - and at
first, it turns into a disaster because Jeannie doesn't understand the
rules of the games Roger persuades Tony to play, so Tony loses lots of
Roger's money. Finally she gets the hang of it, but then she overdoes
making him win by a longshot, so much so that his winning streak attracts
casino security, and he and Roger are kicked out - the unpleasant way. On
one hand, the premise of this episode is pretty good because it's a little
different from the usual routine and yet the three main characters stay
totally in character throughout - on the other hand though, the jokes in
this one aren't all that good, and since the plot doesn't allow Hagman and
Eden to have too many scenes with one another, one of the main attractions
of the series is gone. Amusing still, but not among the best episodes of
the series.
