Having found out Jeannie (Barbara Eden) is a genie only last episode [click here], Roger (Bill Daily) decides to borrow her from his best friend/fellow astronaut Tony (Larry Hagman) from time to time - as in almost always, especially when he wants to impress hot dates - until Tony puts a stop to it of course, which comes at a very inconvenient time, namely when Roger has taken out NASA psychiatrist Dr Bellows' (Hayden Rorke) niece Sheila (Judy Carne) on a date and doesn't bring her home until way past curfew, depending on Jeanny to fix it in post. And when Jeannie does not fix it, Dr Bellows decides to send Roger "on a mission" to a remote island for a month. Roger's caretaker (Herbie Faye) has nothing better to do than to rent out Roger's apartment two a couple of stage magicians (Bernard Fox, Emmaline Henry) behind his back pretty much on the spot - and then Roger's trip is cancelled, and he bumps into the stage magicians in harem costumes in his apartment ... and thinks they are genies sent to him by Jeannie - and in this belief he worsens the situation tenfold ... until it's up to Jeannie to actually fix things for a change.

Basically the first real showcase for Bill Daily, who has grown to be a fixture of the series only gradually. And while he's no match for the talents of Barbara Eden or Larry Hagman (who both remain suitably pale in this episode though), he carries the episode well - but some very forced-upon plottwists also show that his character is only of a limited nature, the deserved sidekick rather than the lead role.

In later episodes of the series, Emmaline Henry, the false genie in this one, would be promoted to playing Dr Bellows' wife by the way.
