Clement (Jason Bailey), his wife Lara (Lucy Harvey) and their best
friend Brett (Ben Williams) have bought an old theatre, the Lantern. There
is something problematic about this from the get-go: Brett has a secret
affair with LAra and wants her to leave Clement, and even threatens to
spill the beans himself. Lara though seems to be consumed by something
within the theatre himself - the Pale Man (Guy DuSade), the angry spirit
of a mindreader who performed at the Lantern but had fallen out of favour
with his audience because he was too good revealing their dark secrets.
Now though that Clement, Lara and Brett are here, he figures he has a new
audience - to terrorize ... A very nice short that tells its
eerie story with an emphasis on atmosphere, which is of course helped by a
deliberately moderate pace, excellent camerawork, a great set ... and if
you claim that Guy DuSade isn't positively creepy (even if or even because
he is seen on screen very little), you're probably a liar. Recommended!
