In the world of international espionage, you can't trust anybody, and
nothing can be left to chance - which is why Natasha (Diana Porter) tapes
a handgun to the bottom of her tabletop before she welcomes Antonio (Aaron
Andrade), to exchange the "nanorobotic weapon" for a case of
diamonds. And of course, she's totally right in not trusting Antonio, who
did not bring the diamonds with him - as he trusts Natasha as little as
she trusts him. The argument of the two secret agents gets heated ... when
Natasha's tapes decide to no longer hold the gun in place and it falls
down and goes off, almost killing Antonio - but not everything is as it
seems in the world of espionage - or in the lives of bored couples,
actually! Running a mere 6 or so minutes, Intrigue is
packed with pretty much every cliché the espionage genre has to offer -
and that alone is enough to make the film a hoot to watch, also because
the execution is flawless of course and the actors are great in hamming it
up (intentionally). But it's really the twist at the end that makes the
whole thing work as something more and different than just a mere spoof -
and tht said, the ending is pretty hilarious in its own right as well. Really
funny, but if you want to do yourself a favour, watch the thing twice,
back to back - only the second time will show how spot-on the performances
really are!
