Gentaro (Shoji
Ishibashi), agent for Professor Tsushima, and his klutzy
colleague Goro (Mitsuo Hamada) - who unbeknowest to Gentaro is
really the giant robot Iron King -, decide to search for the underground
fortress of the Phantom Militia, when they are once again attacked by
giant robot Tongasaurus, who since having been destroyed in the last
episode has developed the ability to detach its head from its body
and shoot projectiles from its neck while traing to bite its enemy with
its floating head. Gentaro and Iron King do their best to fight off
Tongasaurus, but ultimately it's last
episode's Reiko, who appears on the scene and recognizes the
Phantom Militia suad's leader Uzuki as her husband who manages to chase
the Militia and Tongasaurus away.
It soon becomes clear that Reiko and Gentaro are in love with each
other, but still she decides to follow hubby Uzuki, even if he asks her to
kill Gentaro ... which ultimately she cannot do, instead she even gives
the location of the underground fortress away to Gentaro, while the
Phantom Militia once again send their giant robot Tongasaurus to attack.
And while Iron King engages in battle with Tongasaurus, Gentaro blows up
the fortress - and Uzuki with it.
In the end, Gentaro breaks Reiko's heart when he tells her he never
loved her - just to keep her out of harm's way regarding his mission to
destroy the Phantom Militia.
Tongasaurus was so wacky a monster it just deserved to get a second
chance - and even in its second appearance, the robot-dinosaur does not
disappoint: The idea of the floating head and the neck shooting
projectiles is nothing short of ingenious (in a silly, childish sort of
way). You just have to love this episode for that alone !!! The rest of
the show is of course business as usual, but Tongasaurus: OH YESSS !!!
