It's election year, and Senator Du Sang (Eric Roberts) has to defend his seat against sleazy Bruno Bastine III (Bill Victor Arucan), who might not exactly play it fair, having a giant winged monster, Zawazo, in his back yard. But the good Senator isn't one to follow any rulebook either, as he has sacrificed his own son in a voodoo ceremony to hold onto power - oh, and he keeps a giant monster, Nodoto, an ancient God that's pretty much a snake crossed with an elephant, in his "wine cellar" - where he just loves to send donors who refuse to pay up. Phil (James Balsamo), a private eye with anger issue (which are treated by Brinke Stevens), is hired by Bastine to dig up some dirt on Du Sang, and he's really good at what he does, however like Icarus he eventually comes too close to the sun ...

Now when it comes to narrative structure, this movie might not be at the top of its game as it's more of a sequence of monster scenes, campaign ads, news footage, Eric Roberts being his sinister best, and James Balsamo bumbling about, with the occasional sex scene thrown in. But structure or not, all these elements are already enough to make this film loads of fun, a rather spirited blend of thriller, broad political satire and monster movie that doesn't take itself seriously at all, and the wonderfully old school practical monster effects as well as the many cameos by genre favourites (Brinke Stevens, Felissa Rose, Steve Railsback, Eileen Dietz, Elissa Dowling, Sheri Davis, Tuesday Knight, to name but a few) are really just the icing on the cake to make this one really fun ride.
