As ever so often, Jimmy (Cayman Cardiff) and his girlfrend Sarah (Marie Elizabeth DeWitt) meet at the jazz cllub he has built from the ground up for an after-work date, only this time ought to be special as Jimmy wants to propose to Sarah to get married. Thing is, she, a career woman on the verge of a big break, has other ideas and wants to break up - not because she doesn't love him anymore mind you but because she wants to put her career first and has noticed his reservations about this. Now she proposes to remain friends and maybe try again at a later date, but he knows once she's out the door he will never see her again, so he desperately tries everything in his power to convnce her to stay with him after all ..

Basically, this film is a drama stripped down to the bone, as it's just two people talking sitting across each other at a cable, there isn't any actual action other than them caressing each other's hands every once in a while - and yet this very accurate description is selling the film short, as the two characters' dialogue is poignant and consequential, the two actors sure are first rate, the ectlectic score (including lots of jazz but by no means exclusively) nicely underscores the proceedings, and an elegant drectorial effort keeps things interesting visually throughout- So in all an engaging romantic drama - that has no business to be as good as it actually is.
