Jill (Jenna-Lee Carreiro) and Bryan (Dave Racki) have already agreed
upon killing Jill's roommate Scott (Zach Noe Towers) at their camping
trip, because asking him to move out would be "too harsh", and
now they ask their best friend Heather (Peggy Sinnott) to help - but she's
just shocked about their scheme and tries everything to dissuade them -
until Scott joins the group and proves to be a total asshole, picking on
everybody's weaknesses, and especially Heather's, and is especially good
at giving away everybody's secrets for no reason at all, just to create
rifts. So while our killers might soon be at odds with one another, their
intention to kill Scott still unites them ... but Scott's not easy to kill
- despite being stoned to the hilt and without even noticing his friends
try to off him, he survives every attempt, and usually it's Jill who's on
the receiving end. But nobody's indestructible, now is he? Killer
Friends is pretty much an actors' movie: Sure the premise is good, the
writing works out, with all the jokes at the right places, and the
direction is light-footed enough to make this move smoothly ... but with
the wrong cast, this still could have tanked. But fortunately the ensemble
is up to the task, they each really embody their character, are in on the
joke and get the humour without overdoing the slapstick or just playing it
for giggles. A really nice dark comedy!
