Anne's (Vanessa Paradis) is a prolific producer of gay porn, and her
editor Lois (Kate Moran) is also her girlfriend. But Anne's also slightly
unhinged, drinks way too much, calls at all hours of the night, and isn't
always the best of persons, so Lois breaks up with her (privately, not
professionally). Anne figures the way to win her back make a more
ambitious, almost artsy porn production - but then one of her actors turns
up dead, murdered, and after the police fail to do anything another and
yet anothe - and eventually, Anne figures to stop this killing spree among
her performers, she has to pick up investigations herself - but the only
clue she eventually finds is the feather of a very rare bird - and finding
that bird takes her on a weird trip that also helps her find herself.
Anyway, the killer's still out there, and apparently Anne is to be his
ultimate victim ... What a deliciously weird movie: Of course,
it freely draws inspiration from 1970s giallo cinema - what with its
overly constructed plot, its reliance of over-simplified psychology and
weird coincidences, and its killer pulled out of the hat - and really
works well as an hommage to that genre, but then it also takes cues from
romance cinema, fairy tales, gay porn, burlesque and who knows what else
to blend everything into a rather unique and utterly weird concoction.
True one might need an open mind and an appreciation for a bit of camp to
really enjoy this one, but then it works like a charm.
