In a dark, dystopian future, the Kid Athena Park) leads a comparatively comfortable life, being the daughter of a mighty mob boss - but then her dad is assassinated before her very eyes, and next the assassins come looking for her, and she can only escape thanks to Nobel (Josh Bainbridge), who has been hired by her dad as her bodyguard. He drives her out of town with the intention of reuniting her with an aunt of hers. Thing is, the Kid isn't finished here, she doesn't only want revenge for her fathr, sje also wants justice as Metiseaya (Lora Burke), the woman behind her dad's death, also has her hands in human trafficking and the like. Still, that means her and Nobel going up against the syndicate on their own ...

Now this one sure takes a novel approach to things, as it has all the earmarks of an action flick - and sure, there's plenty of fighting involved, but where The Last Assassins really succeeds is atmospheric filmmaking, in all the film feels much more lyrical than visceral. The other thing that sets this one apart from typical action sci-fi is the incredible amount of world-building it does that sure adds depth to the proceedings. Now add to this two welcomely relatable leads leading a solid ensemble, and you've got yourself pretty good genre entertainment.
