It's waaay past doomsday, and most of humankind has turned into zombies
- or sordids, as they are called here - going after the uninfected for
food. R.J. (Jack Nathan Harding) actually doesn't mind that much, because
he never cared as much for humankind anyways and has long built himself a
little fortress with a fresh water source and a smokehouse, and his main
worry is he will run out of teabags eventually. One day though he hears a
desparate knock at his door, and after he has made sure the other guy's
not a sordid, he lets him in - maybe against better knowledge, but he can
really do with a bit of company, and the visitor Sorrel (Stephen
Twardokus) actually turns out to be a pretty decent guy, whom R.J. even
offers some canned food and some jerky - made from flesh of the sordids -
to take with him on his way to wherever ... but then Sorrel pulls a gun,
as this ready-made fortress is too good a place not to make his own, and
despite all of R.J.'s attempts to overcome Sorrel, he retains the upper
hand. But R.J. isn't exactly new to this game, either ... Let
Me See Your Eyes is a well-written little thriller in a confined space
that's skeletal enough in story to keep the suspense up throughout,
doesn't waste much time with explanations of any sort, is subtly shot and
expertly paced, and features a solid cast of two - in other words, a
really good post apocalyptic short.
