To get his half-breed foster-daughter Nina (Shirley Jean Rickert) the money her Indian tribe
gets for their land from the oil company, John Wayne has to go looking
for her dad (Earl Dwire), which might be harder as it sounds, because
many a crook want the money for themselves, too. Wayne can escape the
crooks with the girl though, but the 2 get seperated, & while Nina
gets into captivity by yet some other gang of crooks, Wayne is badly
injured but nursed back to health by Sheila Terry. Back in shape, Wayne
wants to free Nina again, but by now almost everybody wants to get hold
of her, until Wayne & Dwire, Nina's real dad, have to hold the
villains off in a cabin defending the kid, & only with trickery can
they overthrow them (though Dwire loses his life in the process). But
unluckily, by then Yakima Canutt, head villain, has gotten hold of the
girl, & he & Wayne have a wild chase that ends with Canutt - on
his horse, no less - jumps down a cliff into the river, where he is
finally defeated by Wayne.

Another one of these fine John Wayne-Monogram Westerns (Wayne made 16
of them, which are probably all among the very best B-Westerns he ever
made prior to making it to A-Western stardom with Stagecoach),
with the usual great outdoors-scenery, fast pace & nice stunts (by
Yakima Canutt mostly). Gabby Hayes plays an unusually small role as
Wayne's best friend.
