Doc Henry Stein (Víctor Petit) and his wife Joan (María Kosti) move
to a little fishing village on the edge of nowhere where he plans to take
up his job as local physician - but he is met with dismay by pretty much
all of the villagers - except for village idiot Teddy (José Antonio
Calvo), who nevertheless freaks the hell out of Joan and suggests there is
some sinister secret hidden behind the village's facade. And really, in
their first night in their new home, they witness a girl in white being
the centerpiece of some kind of procession - and the next day the girl is
gone ... of course, she was sacrificed to the Knight Templars or Blind
Dead, a group of Crucaders from the middle ages who have turned to Satan
for eternal life, and have thus become man-eating living dead who need 7
virgin sacrifices every 7 years - but Henry and Joan don't know that yet
...
Eventually, when Tilda (Julia Saly), a girl they know, is also
sacrificed, Henry starts investigating and eventually learns parts of the
truth, but it is not until the next night, when he and Joan see Lucy
(Sandra Mozarowsky), their maid, being being brought to the Templars and
they save her, that the whole gruesome truth becomes obvious.
Ultimately, Henry, Joan and Lucy find themselves on the run from the
Templars and steal their horses that lead them right to the Templars'
secret hideout ... where they find the idol of a sea beast figure this is
where the Templars must get their strength from, destroy it ... and the
Templars die, this time for real.
The End.
Of course, Night ot the Seagulls pales in comparison to
Tombs of the Blind Dead, the first film of the Blind Dead-series,
it simply lacks that film's relentlessness and inventiveness, and also is
not that well-directed. But that said, Night ot the Seagulls is
still a nice piece of Euro-horror that no doubt packs a punch and that's
full of violence, gore and quite a bit of nudity, exactly what you would
expect from cheap Euro-trash. Sure, the film is no masterpiece, not even
within genre boundaries, but if you are a fan of this kind of movie, it's
still a fun ride !!!
