The exploits of paranormal investigators Car (Medland) and Taz (Mumtaz
Yildirimlar) have made it to some prominence in certain circles via the
Paranormal Farm movies, so eventually they're called to
the Hollywood Hills to investigate the creepy goings-on in one of the
typical houses of the rich and famous, belonging to Daniel
(P'Lopez), who felt drawn to Carl because like him he's an openly gay man.
Carl, who has some psychic skills, immediately feels the house is haunted
by something, but now it's up to him to find out why, and how this is
linked to the lake the house has a perfect view over, and how all of this
is linked to the darker corners of Hollywood history ...
Now sure, storywise Carl Medland follows the pattern of the by now
well-established oaranormal investigation routine which he had also
previously used, but what makes this one special is that it roots itself
firmly in Hollywood lore and makes perfect use of its Hollywood
surroundings (even if some scenes feel almost touristy). The icing on the
cake though is the film's pro-LGBTQ+ message that realy comes through in
the ending and that doesn't feel at all tagged on but heart-fett. So in
all, while the film might break new ground storywise, its heart sure is in
the right place, and its Hollywood backdrop sure gives it a very special
quality.
