Some small fry crook (Paul Morgan) steals a lady's purse ... and this
is a job of course for the Powerpuff Girls (Lindsey Bean, Hailey Hayes,
Lizette Garcia). But when they have about caught up with the crook, the
sky darkens, and the bungling purse snatcher has turned into supervillain
The Shade ... but maybe it isn't about this at all, maybe it's a story
about a little girl (Danica Metzger) standing up to a bully (Jack Reid) -
using nothing but words and kindness ... Truth to be told, it's
hard to get an original story out of a series as formulaic as The
Powerpuff Girls - but Chris R. Notarile, probably the most versatile
fan filmmaker of our time, does so remarkably well, putting the simplistic
superhero story that works really well in turning the cartoon characters
into live action heroines, into a very likeable larger context. If
you've got six or so minutes on hand, you definitely ought to give this
one a try!
