Norma (Melissa Elena Jones) is a kindergarten teacher, JJ (Deniele
Ramos Cloutier) a medicine student and Sasha (Angelica Chitwood) a
prostitute, and they have one thing in common: They all such at their
respective job. And then each of them receives a message with a film clip
attached that shows them being sexually abused in their youth (as in ten
years ago), when they were held at a certain house which they managed to
escape risking their own lives. They've since all forgotten (repressed)
most about it (and about one another), but of course the clips trigger
their collective memories, and somehow they manage to reunite ... and now
they decide to break in and remove all the DVDs containing their footage
from back when - even if their plan isn't as good as it ought to be and
their backup is Sasha's dopehead friend (Vince Pagler III) ... and
eventually the girls find themselves cornered by their former tormentors
(Aubrey Wakeling, Gwendoline Pere-Lahaille), and what's even more
problematic, Norma might actually have betrayed them, being the actual
daughter of the couple. But there's really more to the story than meets
the eye, and things do get mighty bloody ... Especially a
horror fan that has been over-saturated by tired formula movies (and yes,
I'm talking about myself here) might really love Psychos as it
after a rather familiar set-up dares to stray off into rather unexpected
directions to ultimately wrap the thing up in a unique way that though
makes perfect sense in hindsight. This is of course helped by not only a
well-structured script but also a strong cast and a direction that knows
the demands of the genre without abandoning the bigger picture. Definitely
worth a watch!!!
