Catherine (Cheryl Lyone) and Rebecca (Christina DeRosa), two
bible-selling convent school girls, try to make their business in the
wrong part of town and become witnesses of gangster/pimp Lobo (Peter
Tahoe) shooting one of his whores (Patricia Grant). Subsequently they are captured by Lobo, who doesn't want any witnesses for his worngdoings, and
his gang, retarded Clint (Johnny Winscher) and crazy bitch Marla (Ivet
Corvea). Rebecca is soon killed by crazy Marla, but Lobo has something
else in store for Catherine: A game of run bitch run, in which he
chases her through the woods and rapes her once he has captured her,
taking her virginity that way. Then he sends Clint to kill her. Clint
strips Catherine and wants to rape her too, but then sees her rosary and
feels pity with the girl. When she falls down some cliffs in an accident,
he figures she's a goner and leaves. Catherine has survived her fall
though and is eventually taken to a hospital, totally traumatized. But she
soon figures she's got a score to settle, steals a nurse's outfit and
leaves the hospital dressed as a nurse, armed with a scalpel, and soon
enough she knives down a random pimp for his weapons, then goes after
Clint, Marla, and finally Lobo, and she kills them all in the most
gruesome fashion. It's only then that she realizes what horrible things
she has done, and she commits suicide. One thing up front: Run!
Bitch Run! is not the most subtle film, quite the contrary, it's
amazingly blunt, very single minded and not burdened with any afterthought
... and for once, that's actually a good thing, Run! Bitch Run! is
a refreshingly straightforward, unpretentious and unapologetic
rape'n'revenge flick very much in style of the grindhouse classics from
the late 1970's/early 80's like I
Spit on your Grave and Ms. 45,
even in directorial style, use of fetishistic images and the like. Now of
course, this is not a film for the faint-hearted or politically
correct, but neither the
film's (blunt) title nor its genre classification (rape'n'revenge)
would suggest as much, or would they? Recommended, actually.
