Professor Lira (Alfonso Castano) asks masked wrestler Santo for help to find the
treasure of the Crying Woman - a legendary Mexican Spirit - & give
it to Child Welfare - as this is the only way to stop her from killing
each first-born of the professor's family - the family of the Crying
Woman's husband when she was still alive (& played by Natalia Kiki
Herrera Calles) & killed her own sons as to take revenge for him
cheating on her. As he sees the treasure hunt is for a good cause, Santo
of course agrees &, with his friend & sidekick boxer Mantequilla
Napoles, goes to search her coffin to get a medallion vital for
deciphering the treasure map the professor has. But not only do Santo
& Mantequilla awake the spirit of the Crying Woman once more by
taking her medallion, they are also brought to the attention of Sevora
Segovia (Rene Cardona, usually a director of Santo- & similar
wrestling-movies), a gangster who wants to get his hands on the treasure
himself. & eventually, he even gets to the medallion & the
treasure map via professor Alvarez, an associate of Lira, but has him
foolishly shot before Alvarez can help him decipher the map. Professor
Lira meanwhile is killed by the Crying Woman, by now on a killing spree and
after all the members of Lira's family, so Segovia has no other
choice than to lure Santo & Mantequilla Napoles into his
headquarters to let them retrieve the map & madallion - since he
figures they are the only people capable of understanding the map. &
understand they do, as they soon find the treasure, while the Crying
Woman has already abducted the grandchildren of professor Lira &
moves in for the kill, and the only thing to prevent it would be the
treasure was handed over to Child Welfare in time. But then there are
the gangsters wanting to steal the treasure, too ... Well, of course it
has a happy ending ! Actually based on a legend of Mexican
origin, which has been filmed repeatedly (without wrestlers) prior to
this movie, this is a childish but nice wrestling-horror movie, steeping
kneedeep in pulp fiction using all the familiar elements like gangsters
with scientific gadgets, caverns & cobwebs, ghosts & pacts with
satan & of course, a masked superhero, & all is done with
characters - including Santo & Mantequilla - wearing ridiculously
funky & colourful 70's outfits.
